Penne pasta are small cylinder shapped pieces with the ends cut on an angle. There are ridges on the outside of the pasta to help hold the sauce. is cooked al dente pasta and packed in a bulk format and then quick frozen. It is ready to go right from the freezer.

Ingredients

Durum wheat semolina pasta, Water, Canola oil.

Preparation

Boiling

Flash 10-15 seconds seconds in boiling salted water

Saute

Bring water to a rolling boil (2 – 6 liters depending on quantity) add 1 teaspoon of salt (optional). Add desired amount of frozen pasta to boiling water. Wait until water comes back to a rolling boil and cook for 30 seconds. Drain and toss pasta in a skillet with preheated O’Sole Mio sauce. Cook for 2 to 4 minutes until reaching internal temperature of 72 °C (162°F) **. Add your favourite topping as desired (parmesan, basil, chili, etc.).

Microwave

Put the required portion of the frozen pasta, in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover the pasta with your favourite O’ Sole Mio sauce ensuring that the pasta is fully covered. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, MIX CAREFULLY, as the product will be hot, and cook for 3 more minutes, until an internal temperature of 72°C (162°F) is reached*. The time will vary depending on the amount of pasta and the microwave strength.

Bake

Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Place frozen pasta in a baking dish, cover with your favourite O’ Sole Mio sauce and top with cheese. Bake for 26 to 30 minutes until an internal temperature of 72 ° C (162°F) is reached**. The time will vary on the amoung of pasta.
